Myths Exposed!

The lash extension industry is growing and that means so are procedures, safety protocol, products on the market, training vs no training etc!

As we seek out a professional to help enhance our beautiful features, knowing some of these myths help us choose the right lash tech.

Myth #1

Lashes hurt 😔.

Busted! I trained and certified lash tech places great emphasis on something called ISOLATION. Isolation is when each individual natural lash is seperated from others during the application process and held for a short period of time to dry. New lash techs on the market will use a slower drying glue and thus a longer hold and and advanced techs will use a quick drying glue and thus less hold. If that isolation is not done properly, other lashes can get stuck together and this pain while growing out!

Myth #2

Lashes are heavy.

Busted! Lashes don’t have to be heavy. A knowledgeable lash tech assess the lash health of the client. Everything from fine lashes, damaged, short; all these factors are looked at when deciding what weight is ok for your lashes. Occasionally a serum is recommended to increase health of lashes for proper application.

Myth #3

All lash glue is the same.

BUSTED:

Standard glue contains cynoacralate and black carbon. The activating ingredients in adhesive. However, many cheap glues on the market, often from China are being introduced for their longevity of extensions, however, some of them contain product mixed in similar to crazy glue! This in turn leads to glue allergies and often not being able to have lashes again.

Myth #4

The eyelash industry is regulated.

BUSTED! Nope and nope! Any Joe blow can claim to be an eyelash tech and place glue near the eyes. Our industry is not regulated! So improper isolation, use of terribly damaging unsafe and cheap products are likely being used. Safety is also unlikely. People that take the time to learn eyelash extensions from an accredited source (check NALA) and certify are taught safety.

In a nut shell:

  • Check that your lash tech is certified

  • Ask questions! How long has your tech been lashing? Products? Protocol? Safety?

  • Lashes should be comfortable and so should be the application.

Your lashes, your eyes and your health! Be proactive.
